Magbago x Technical School Brcko District BiH: Learning Labs on Sustainable Fashion with Creative FLIP and Goethe-Institut

From February to June this year, Magbago had the honor of participating in a unique educational program held at the Technical School – Department of Fashion Design, through a series of workshops titled “Learning Labs.” The program was funded by the Creative FLIP initiative and the Goethe-Institut in Brussels, with Magbago serving as the creative facilitator.

Over the course of several months, we held six thematic workshops aimed at introducing students to contemporary trends and challenges in fashion, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation. Key topics included:

Sustainable Fashion Design – how to think and create with the planet in mind

Artificial Intelligence in Fashion – an introduction to emerging technologies transforming the industry

Design Thinking – a user-centered approach to creative problem-solving

Intellectual Property Protection – understanding how to safeguard creative ideas and rights

As part of the program, students also took part in a study visit to a local footwear processing facility, where they gained firsthand insight into sustainable production methods, material use and reuse, and the challenges of circular fashion. This experience was complemented by a practical workshop on making own collcetion and transformation, enabling students to experiment with innovative material.

A special highlight of the program was the creation of a student-designed collection using innovative and sustainable materials, many of which are derived from agricultural and food waste. Through hands-on learning and mentorship, students explored the environmental challenges facing the fashion industry and developed a deeper awareness of responsible production and consumption.

Magbago acted as a bridge between theory and practice, bringing real-world knowledge of sustainable fashion into the classroom.

We are proud to have had the opportunity to inspire and support the next generation of designers who view fashion through a more conscious, responsible lens—one that respects people, the planet, and the future.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the partners, students, teachers, Creative FLIP Goethe-Institut in Brussels who helped make this program a reality.

Change begins with education—and we believe that young people are the key to transforming the fashion industry.
