As the founder of Magbago, a brand that combines sustainable fashion and innovation, I have often been aware of the challenges and opportunities of working with rural communities and natural resources. When I was given the chance to participate in the European Leadership Academy for Rural Innovation, I knew it was the perfect step forward – toward building a sustainable future and strengthening local communities.
How did Magbago align with the Academy’s vision?
Magbago merges innovation and nature to create clothing that not only nurtures the skin but also promotes a positive impact on local communities. The Academy’s vision – to link sustainability with innovation in rural areas – perfectly reflected Magbago’s values.
The recognition I received during the Academy, the Sustainability Pioneer Award, was not just an acknowledgment of my work but also a testament to everyone who believes in Magbago – from local producers to customers around the world. This award is for all of us who believe in change and courageously pursue it.
Key lessons from the Academy
The program was an opportunity to gain knowledge, find inspiration, and network with women from different parts of Europe. Here are a few moments that left a lasting impression:
Digital storytelling workshop with Chiyo Robertson: I learned how to craft a story that connects emotions, authenticity, and the values of rural areas with the audience. Sharing the story of nature and tradition through digital channels has become an essential part of my work.
Masterclass on sustainable leadership with Dr. Violeta Bulc: The idea that sustainability and resilience go hand in hand, respecting economic, social, and environmental principles, was both refreshing and motivating.
Presentation skills workshop with Luisa Baldini: Tips on clear communication helped me refine the way I present Magbago and our projects to potential partners and investors.
Inspiration through collaboration with other participants
One of the most beautiful aspects of the Academy was working with other participants. By exchanging experiences, ideas, and support, I felt the strength of community and the inspiration to continue my mission. This was a community of women who believe in change and boldly bring it to life.
Receiving the Sustainability Pioneer Award and participating in the Academy showed me the importance of connecting innovation with communities. My goal is to continue inspiring change through Magbago – not only in fashion but also in rural development, environmental protection, and community empowerment.
I believe every small change leads to a significant impact. Through innovation, creativity, and dedication, we can build a future where fashion, technology, and nature work in perfect harmony.
I invite you all to be part of this change – to believe, create, and inspire. 🌿
